Dead Pony Pale Ale
by BrewDog (brewery website)
Origin: Scotland – Type: American Pale Ale – Alcohol: 3.8%
The beer: Dead Pony Pale Ale is one of BrewDogs headline range, so you can pick this up from many locations around the UK. I’m thankful for that, as this is one of my favourites from the brewery. It’s hopped with varieties synonymous with California and the west coast of the USA, which gives the beer a fantastic fruity taste and aroma with a pronounced citrus zing. There is an initial bitterness to the taste, but this mellows out quite quickly to leave a forgiving and refreshing aftertaste. A good brew for anyone just getting into pale ales, but also good for the ale lover.
The little extra: When the Portman Group (regulator of the British alcohol trade) ruled that the labelling of bottles of Dead Pony “encourages both anti-social behaviour and rapid drinking.”, Brewdog responded: “On behalf of BrewDog PLC and its 14,691 individual shareholders, I would like to issue a formal apology to the Portman Group for not giving a s*** about today’s ruling.” – You’ve got to love BrewDog!
Where we bought it: Brewdog’s bottle shop in King’s Cross. They have a great range of craft beer bottles.
